In addition to our other types of fabric for custom sewing, FoamOrder offers a wide range of Sunbrella® fabrics for custom cushion covers. Sunbrella® offers the most comprehensive and dependable line of outdoor fabrics. Started in 1961, Sunbrella® is the leading global brand for exterior UV resistant and interior UV resistant fabrics. Sunbrella® fabric is nearly impervious to decay caused by sunlight and exposure to the elements, making it an ideal fabric for use on outdoor patio furniture cushions or indoor cushions which are exposed to direct sunlight. Other fabrics will fade and fall apart over time when exposed to the elements. Sunbrella® Fabric comes in a range of textures from linen to chenille to canvas, and a wide variety of patterns and solids.
To order by the yard, choose a Sunbrella® fabric, then enter the number of yards of fabric you want to order.
It is important to remember that when your Sunbrella® Fabric cushion is larger, it should have a zipper on three sides.

Machine washing
Since Sunbrella® fabric is created in a unique fashion, Sunbrella® fabrics typically have a unique washing method. Read through the full cleaning instructions.
No. You can order just a Sunbrella® cover from this page. However, you can order your complete piece (foam and a Sunbrella® cover) from our custom cushions section. Choose a “custom cut” shape, enter your dimensions, and then select your Sunbrella® fabric and foam from the available fabric options.
Welt cording makes any fabric covered pillow or cushion look complete and professional. We painstakingly match the pattern in the front with the pattern on top despite the seams cut and sewn for cording. This is very difficult and requires skilled sewing. You may mix and match colors of fabric and cording. If you select a striped Sunbrella® fabric cover, we recommend that you select cording in a solid color that will match one of the stripe colors. (Note that cording is not necessary for mattress covers.)
Create a contemporary or modern look for your Sunbrella® cushion by adding top-stitching instead of welt cord. If using top stitching, we recommend that you order the foam one-half inch thicker than the casing to stretch out the Sunbrella® fabric if you don’t have a Dacron wrap or down envelope added. If you want you can specify a different color thread to be used for the top stitch by adding comments to the cover item once it is in your shopping cart.
We can add chair ties (or cushion ties) to any Sunbrella® cushion cover. The ties will be made from the same Sunbrella® material used to make your cover. Chair and cushion ties are purchased by the set—a set is made up of the two individual strips that tie together to form one “knot,” holding your cushion in place against the furniture. We highly recommend using no less than TWO SETS of ties to secure your Sunbrella® cushion to your furniture. You can specify where the chair ties should be placed on your Sunbrella® cover after clicking the “Add to Cart” button. We also offer velcro strips on your covers for an extra charge. Place comments in your shopping cart, or contact our customer service team for help.
Another big plus of Sunbrella® fabric is their commitment to sustainability. All Sunbrella® consumers are able to take advantage of their recycling services. This means that they will take your old beat up Sunbrella® cushions and recycle the material to be used again! Another factor that tends to harm our environment is the chemicals and run-off from the dying of textiles.
Sunbrella® not only avoids using effluents associated with dying processes used by the majority of manufactures, but also has a unique coloring process that reduces the waste-water and energy needed to produce their beautiful fabrics. Sunbrella® also has a GREENGUARD certificate for indoor air quality, insuring a safe and fashionable living space. Sunbrella® fabric awnings were the original purpose for Sunbrella®. Sunbrella® is so successful at creating awnings that The Skin Cancer Foundation suggests using Sunbrella® to help aid you in keeping your skin looking young and healthy. Sunbrella® easily adapted the Sunbrella® fabric technology to a lighter, more comfortable material in their interior and outdoor fabric upholstery lines. Be wary about choosing a Sunbrella® fabric awning material for use as upholstery material; it is way too stiff.
