Outdoor cushion replacements can be made of materials such as Sunbrella fabric, Olefin, acrylic, or polyester that are specifically designed to withstand outdoor elements.
Sunbrella is a brand of fabric that is specifically designed for outdoor use. Sunbrella cushion covers are made of acrylic fibers that are resistant to fading, mildew, and stains.
Look for cushions that are labeled as UV-resistant or made with Sunbrella fabric, which is known for its UV-resistant properties.
It’s not recommended to leave patio cushions outside during the winter. Freezing weather can cause them to become brittle and crack. Prolonged exposure to moisture can also cause mildew, and result in loss of comfort. If possible, store them indoors. If indoor storage isn’t an option, use protective covers and ensure good drainage to minimize damage.
It depends. Not all outdoor cushions are created equal. While prolonged exposure to water will shorten the lifespan of any cushion, high quality outdoor foam will be able to withstand the elements for 2-5 years. However, as a general rule, it’s always better to cover or remove your outdoor cushions from harsh conditions if possible.

The important difference between indoor and outdoor cushions is how they react to water. Indoor cushions are made from a higher density foam making it so they absorb water like a sponge. This can cause mildew. Outdoor cushions have an open cell construction so water can easily escape preventing mildew growth and keeping your outdoor seating fresh and comfortable.
