Patio furniture must be able to withstand all elements—rain, snow, and sun. When looking for cushions, you may notice that many suppliers use polyester pillow fiber for their outdoor cushions. Polyester fiber is inexpensive, and it becomes compressed and distorted in a short time. FoamOrder’s outdoor, dry-fast (reticulated) foam is resilient and durable, and should last up to 10 years with normal use. It has porous properties which let water flow through it, thus reducing latent water and moisture, and significantly reducing the chances for mildew and mold. Our outdoor foam for patio cushions comes in three firmness options, Soft, Medium and Firm, and we offer a broad range of weather-resistant, durable Sunbrella® fabrics to keep your patio cushions looking modern and stylish. With FoamOrder patio cushions, your patio swing, seats, chairs, and other patio furniture will stay plush and comfortable all year long.
We recommend dacron batting for indoor or outdoor patio cushions, generally with a book wrap. Dacron batting gives patio furniture cushions a full, comfortable, rounded look. Without dacron your patio cushions may show wrinkles in the fabric. Dacron provides an additional layer of comfortable padding between the foam and cover, making your patio cushions as comfortable as possible. If you really don’t want batting, then order your foam slightly thicker (1/4" to 1/2") than the case to make sure it fills in as much as possible.
Outdoor furniture can often be tricky as it has to balance the features of being able to dry quickly while still maximizing comfort. First of all, outdoor cushions need to be able to drain moisture and liquid from rain and dew quickly and fully. If your outdoor cushions don’t drain properly, they will quickly get moldy or build up mildew. In addition, your outdoor cushions should be just as comfortable as your indoor cushions, despite using materials that drain properly. To properly make comfortable outdoor furniture cushions, you should always use reticulated (also known as dry-fast) foam, which has large “pores” to easily drain rain water and other moisture. While many manufacturers use sub-standard and inexpensive outdoor foam, FoamOrder offers three high-grade levels of outdoor foam comfort (soft, medium, and firm).
A second problem many homeowners experience with outdoor cushions are back cushions that don’t hold their shape and are too fluffy. We recommend using soft outdoor foam for your back cushions, surrounded by a soft quick-draining layer of polyester or dacron batting. If your existing outdoor furniture isn’t comfortable, you can replace your cushions quickly and easily with our high-grade outdoor foam in your preferred firmness. Just select your foam type, enter in the custom dimensions, and your new custom cushions will arrive in just a few weeks.
