We offer the following Neoprene accessories to support your Neoprene needs:
NSeal™ seam tape is an iron-on tape that provides a waterproof and long lasting finish to sewn or welded seams of Neoprene, Lycra, and a wide variety of similar materials.
Covering the seam tape with a piece of paper is a good technique that will help shield and protect your iron and the tape. Preheat your iron which should be set to "silk" or the lowest steam temperature without actually using the steam. Press the iron down with firm, even pressure for 10 seconds. Lift and rotate iron; apply for another 10 seconds. Allow the bond to cool for a few minutes before testing adhesion. After the seam tape cools, check for any loose edges and use the iron again if necessary.
Seam tape provides additional strength to the seam and stretches in every direction to provide a longer lasting bond. Available in black. Seam tape is 20 mm wide (approximately 0.79"). For added seam strength, use Aquaseal®.
The following video on "How to repair a wetsuit" gives some good instructions on different techniques of applying adhesive for neoprene repair as well as a good example of ironing on seam tape.
We supply three different models of the proper scissors to cut Neoprene. Both right-handed and left-handed shears are available.
Top Quality, made in Germany, Kretzer upholstery scissors will last and make the job go faster and easier. Industrial scissors pay for themselves with the first job you have to cut! The beautiful thing about industrial scissors is they can be re-sharpened over and over.
We have a wide selection of hook and loop to meet your needs. This is military-grade and will hold up very well. Rolls are available in widths of 0.5", 0.75", 1", 1.5", and 2" wide (1.3, 1.9, 2.5, 3.8, and 5.1 cm). The rolls are all 25 yards (22.9 m) long. Each hook and loop roll contains a single-side; that is, either the hook side or the loop side. You can choose sew-on backing or peel-and-stick adhesive backing. We stock white, beige, and black hook and loop. More colors are available by special order; contact us for other colors or to take advantage of volume discounts.
The peel and stick is not strong enough on its own for most applications. Consider using 2" of one side with 3/4" of the other side. This will make it easier to separate.
The leading solution for repair of gear used for watersports as well as wet and dry suit repair. Perfect for sealing and protection from tears and scratches. Great for use around the home and in the field.
DIRECTIONS FOR NEOPRENE REPAIR: Clean damaged area with solvent (paint thinner, nail polish remover or similar). Trim loose threads. Non-fabric surfaces should be roughened with sandpaper, and then cleaned. Apply Aquaseal® to surfaces directly from tube or with knife or flat stick. Keep repair level overnight. Avoid contact with other surfaces. Most repairs reach full strength overnight (10–14 hours). Allow longer for thickest repairs.
HOLES AND TEARS: Create backing with removable tape. Fill void and 1/4" beyond edge with Aquaseal®. Remove tape after full cure.
SEAMS: Apply 1/16" thick bead overlapping seam edges by at least 1/4". Apply with slight pressure to saturate fabric surfaces.
HIGH WEAR AREAS: Apply thin coat with knife for flexible abrasion resistance.
WARNING: FULLY CURED AQUASEAL® IS SLIPPERY WHEN WET. For added traction on footwear, sprinkle sand on uncured Aquaseal® half an hour after applying.
CLEAN UP: To remove Aquaseal® from hands, buff with cloth soaked in paint thinner, nail polish remover, or 99% isopropyl alcohol.
STORAGE: Advance contents to tube neck. Wipe clean and cap. Keep in cool, dry place; for extended life, place in freezer. To thaw or for easier-flowing contents, soak tube in warm water for 15 minutes.
Perfect contact cement for fixing tears in neoprene. It dries quickly. Protects against water penetration. Compatible with most rubber items intended for wet or dry use. Repairs items such as gloves, boots, fishing waders whether for water sports or orthopedic purposes.
DIRECTIONS: Shake tube well (60 seconds) before using. Thoroughly clean and dry entire area for repair. Apply cement on both edges of the repair area. Allow this first coat to dry for 5 minutes. Next, apply a second coat to the repair area and allow it to dry for an additional 10 minutes. Press and hold edges of repair together for long lasting repairs.
STORAGE: Advance contents to tube neck and cap securely. To promote longer product life, always store tube in a cool, dry place with the tip end down. Original package blister card may be used for storage.
Our spray glue will bond layers of neoprene together. Spray both layers and allow 1–2 minutes to become dry and tacky. Then stick both layers together. Not for use on neoprene seams.
