Frequently Asked Bay Window Cushion Questions

Which foam and thickness is best for Bay Window Cushions?

Bay window cushions are usually on the thinner side, often from 1–3 inches thick. Most important is to make sure that the thickness and firmness of the foam you choose for your bay window work together to provide maximum comfort. This means that if your cushions are thin (1–2 inches), you need firmer foam (Everflex™ V54 for example) to make sure you don’t “bottom out” and hit the surface below the cushion. For thicker bay window cushions (2–3 inches) that get everyday use, we recommend our Everflex™ V44 foam. For an ultra-luxurious cushion, or for the eco-minded or those with allergies, our organic latex foam with an organic wool batting provides the ultimate in natural comfort.

Should I order dacron (polyester) batting for my bay window cushions?

Bay window cushions are one type of cushion where batting is optional. While we generally do recommend batting to give your bay window cushion a fuller, more luxurious look (not to mention a more padded and comfortable feel), it’s not always necessary for a bay window cushion. Just be aware that without dacron batting, your cushion will be more “squared off” and look a little less padded and full than it would with batting. Also, the thinner the bay window cushion (2 inches or less) the more that batting will help it provide a little extra cushion that might make your bench cushion more comfortable.
