FoamOrder offers three types of batting for do-it-yourselfers to work with. We offer standard polyester (Dacron) batting, organic cotton batting, and organic wool batting. Batting is common in upholstery and quiltmaking, and provides fill or rounding-out of cushions or blankets. In cushions, polyester batting is highly recommended to give them that fuller, more luxurious look, and to remove wrinkles from fabric covers. Batting also helps cushions to slide into slipcovers more easily by removing the friction from the foam.
Dacron wrapping is standard on any of our cushions and very much recommended. Dacron rounds out edges and fills in the fabric cover for a more aesthetic look. It also helps foam to slide into a fabric cover.
Standard cushions are wrapped using a “book wrap” technique. It is called this because the dacron covers the foam in the same way a dust jacket covers a hardbound book. Only three sides of a cushion are covered (see picture). You will need a can of glue to attach the dacron.
We sell regular dacron wrap, which is 1.25-ounce weight and low-melt, by the whole yard (1 yard = 91 cm), in 30" (76 cm) or 66" (168 cm) widths. We also sell thin dacron (0.5-ounce weight), which is excellent for cushions 2" (5 cm) or thinner, wall upholstery, and more. Contact us for volume discounts.
One pound of polyester scraps fills one cubic foot. Note that shipping charges can be more than the product costs.
Our 100% cotton batting is 27" (69 cm) wide and 14 oz. per square yard. This is standard upholstery-weight cotton. There are no flame retardant chemicals or boric acid used.
This 100% organic wool from New Zealand comes in a 88" (224 cm) width. It is very clean wool. We use it in our Organic Mattresses. 1.8 ounces per square foot.
This is certified organic wool from New Zealand. It is very clean. We use it in our natural Puddle Pads mattress protectors. It is approximately 1/4" (1 cm) thick and 90" (229 cm) wide, and it weighs about 2.3 pounds per yard.
Our spray glue will FAST bond to paper, metal, wood, fabric, and more. It dries in seconds to create a permanent bond. This spray glue is also ideal for repairing rips in foam. (Note: Pro-Tack should not be used on polystyrene.)

For both temporary and permanent bonding, this high solids product is ideal for uneven or porous surfaces and weight materials. Waterproof, flexible, transparent and non-staining, use PRO-TACK for your toughest adhesive applications with materials such as leather, cardboard, most plastics, and cloth. Formulated with the environment in mind, PRO-TACK contains no chlorinated solvents or ozone depleters. Cleans easily with Mineral Spirits. Not intended for use on vinyl.
