Transform Your Sleep With a Foam Mattress Topper

Is your mattress feeling too hard or causing pain as you sleep? You may be able to improve your sleep without buying a new mattress. A foam mattress topper can completely change a mattress’s feel so you get better rest each night.

Benefits of a Mattress Topper

A foam mattress topper is a sheet of foam, typically between 1 and 4 inches thick, that you place on top of a mattress. Here are some of the ways a foam mattress topper helps sleep quality.

  • Foam toppers make your mattress more comfortable. If a mattress is too firm, a topper will give it a softer feel while maintaining support. The thicker the topper is, the more it changes the mattress’s feel.
  • Toppers more evenly distribute body weight, reducing pressure points to ease back, shoulder and joint pain. It also means less pressure on the mattress, helping it last longer.
  • Adding a topper can revitalize a mattress that has gotten hard and uncomfortable, meaning you can wait longer before buying a new mattress.
  • Mattress toppers make it harder for dust, dirt, moisture and germs to get into your mattress. If a problem does occur, a mattress topper is easier to care for and replace.
  • A topper requires very little maintenance. All you have to do is periodically rotate and vacuum it.

What Type of Foam Should I Get?

FoamOrder.com offers several types of mattress toppers with different advantages. Let’s examine them to see which is right for you.

Polyurethane Foam Mattress Toppers

Made from the same foam used in our traditional mattresses, these foam toppers are a solid option, especially for those on a budget. Polyfoam is very breathable and has excellent motion response for those with mobility issues. However, they don’t last as long. We offer EverFlex™ mattress toppers for your regular bed and EconoFlex™ toppers for occasional-use beds (guest rooms, RVs, etc.).

Memory Foam Mattress Toppers

These high-end mattress toppers are the most popular design. They have excellent orthopedic properties for pain relief and low motion transfer so movement will seldom disturb your partner. The biggest possible downside is that memory foam retains heat; this can lead to “sleeping hot” and increase the chances of developing mold. We use 5 lb./ft.³ high-density memory foam to improve durability.

Organic Latex Foam Mattress Toppers

If you want to avoid chemicals while still getting a better night’s sleep, these all-natural mattress toppers are the best choice. They have good support, a hypoallergenic design, limited motion transfer and can last up to 25 years with proper care. On the other hand, they’re not as soft as other materials, and some people don’t enjoy the bouncier feel.

Egg Crate Foam Toppers

Want a natural topper that’s softer and has less bounce? Try an egg crate latex mattress topper. The “peak and valley” egg crate pattern makes a medium firmness topper feel like a soft firmness. It also improves airflow so you sleep cooler. The only drawback is that egg crate toppers are the most expensive option.
