Outdoor furniture that is exposed to rain and sun should always use outdoor, reticulated, open-cell foam. This foam drains quickly and thoroughly, eliminating the presence of mold and mildew on your outdoor furniture. Outdoor chaise lounges are usually either for poolside relaxing and tanning, or part of a sectional sofa. For stand-alone outdoor chaise cushions, 1–2 inches is usually the right thickness, in which case we recommend our outdoor medium or firm foam. For outdoor chaise lounges that are part of a sectional, 4–6 inch thickness is best, and we recommend our medium outdoor foam. FoamOrder recommends dacron batting for outdoor chaise cushions, as well as other outdoor cushions. The dacron batting doesn’t interfere with the proper drainage of outdoor banch cushions, and gives your chaise cushions a fuller look and a bit of extra comfort. It also makes it easier to get your foam into and out of the covers, which is helpful if you’re going to wash your cushion covers (as we recommend).
