Sprinter vans that are modified with beds are becoming more popular and we suggest three materials from which you can make your Sprinter mattress. The material you choose should depend on how often you plan to sleep in your Sprinter and the type of materials that suit your lifestyle. For Sprinter mattresses where you’ll spend more than 1–2 nights at at time, we recommend our high resiliency (HR) Everflex polyurethane foam. For those spending fewer nights on the road, you can get away with our less-expensive (and less dense) polyurethane Econoflex foam. We offer 3 firmness options for each of these, and generally recommend medium (V44) as long as your mattress is between 3–5 inches thick. If it’s thicker you should consider our less firm V34 (or C33), and if it’s less than 3 inches you’ll probably want our firmer V54 or C55 foam. For those more concerned with natural materials and/or the environement, we offer our premium organic, latex foam. We offer six firmness options in latex, and recommend that you choose the firmness that matches your personal sleeping preference while in your van, from soft to firm. We also offer memory foam Sprinter mattress options, but always recommend that you put a base layer of polyurethane foam below 1–2 inches of memory foam. Follow the order process on our website and select “Pattern Shape,” and enter the general (rough) dimensions of the mattress. At the end of the process we’ll tell you how to mail the pattern to us. If your mattress is a standard shape, you can just order by selecting the shape that corresponds to your mattress (usually a rectangle). To make a pattern for a custom (odd-shape) Sprinter mattress grab a large piece of paper, or plastic, and a Sharpie or other marker, to trace the pattern. You can tape several pieces of paper together if needed. Next, trace the exact shape of the mattress, and write important details on the pattern like the thickness of the Sprinter mattress, and where any zippers might go if you’re going to order a mattress cover. Please note if the top and bottom of the mattress are the exact same size, or if one is slightly bigger than the other (known as a “bevel”). If you need a bevel, you’ll need to either make a separate top and bottom pattern, or, clearly communicate on the pattern how much smaller one is than the other. Without a mattress cover, custom pattern shape mattresses usually take 2 weeks from the time we receive your pattern. With a custom-sewn cover, it will likely take 4–6 weeks.
At FoamOrder, we offer ten densities of polyurethane foam mattresses to choose from, from less-expensive mid-grade Econoflex to our highly durable, long-lasting Everflex. Prices start low for our EconoFlex foam (the grade used in the manufacturing of the majority of consumer mattress brands), we recommend this grade of foam for mattresses that don’t get used a lot (guest beds, RVs, etc.). And our long lasting high-resiliency Everflex foam is still a great deal for these high-quality materials. We also offer super-comfortable, organic latex foam mattresses for the best night’s sleep you can imagine. Finally, our memory foam mattress options offer the ability to combine a dreamlike memory foam top layer with a more sturdy and durable polyurethane foam base.
