Frequently Asked RV and Van Cushion Questions

Which foam is best for RV and Van Cushions?

At FoamOrder, any foam style you choose will be of high quality. Choose from natural latex foam, which has a natural resistance to mold and mildew, or heavenly soft memory foam. You can add a foam topper to any cushions that will be used for bedding, including pull-out couches. Or, select a firmer polyurethane foam for the seats in the dinette area. We have foam for all of your needs.

We provide durable foam types that are available in a range of firmness options, from soft to medium to firm. With our durable Everflex™ foam, the cushion seats throughout your RV, Van or Sprinter will stay plush and comfortable no matter how much time passes. Plus, the fabrics we use for our covers, including Sunbrella® options, are soft and versatile. We select only the best materials for our foam and covers.

Should I order dacron (polyester) batting with my RV or Van cushions?

At FoamOrder, we generally recommend dacron batting for all cushions. However, the tight space and limited use of many RV and van cushions makes this more of an option for this use. Batting provides a little bit of extra padding and comfort to most cushions, and it also gives your RV or van cushions that fuller look seen in most interior cushions.

How thick should RV and Van cushions be?

When ordering cushions for your RV or van, space is usually the number one constraint. We’ve found that most cushions in vans and RVs are a bit thinner than in other settings. As a general rule, cushions that provide adequate padding for sitting or sleeping should be a minimum of 2 inches thick, with 3–4 providing more comfort if space allows. Remember also that the thinner the cushion, the firmer the foam needs to be to make sure you don’t “bottom out” and hit the surface below the cushion.
