How you use your van mattress and how often (and for how many nights) you sleep on it should dictate how you build it. For van mattresses, we offer three materials to choose from. First is traditional polyurethane foam. For a van mattress, if you’re going to spend more than 2–3 nights at a time or more than a few short trips per season on this mattress, we recommend our highest quality, high resiliency (HR), Everflex foam. If you’re spending fewer nights per trip or season on your van mattress, you can get by with less-expensive (and less dense) Econoflex foam. We offer 3 firmness options for each of these foams, and generally recommend medium-density V44 as long as your mattress is between 3–5 inches thick. If it’s thicker you should consider our less firm V34, and if it’s less than 3 inches you’ll probably want our firmer V54 foam. The second option for your van mattress, for the eco-conscious crowd, is much more comfortable, and organic, latex foam. We offer six firmness options, and you should select the firmness that matches your personal sleeping preference in your van, from soft to firm. Finally, we offer memory foam mattress options as well, but always recommend that you put a base layer of polyurethane foam below 1–2 inches of memory foam. Please use our friendly experts in customer service if you need help choosing the right van mattress for your vehicle.
Making a pattern for a custom size van mattress should be easy. Start with a large piece of paper, or plastic, to trace the pattern, or just tape several pieces together. Trace the exact shape of where the edges are, and write important details right on the pattern like the thickness of the van mattress, and where any zippers might go if you’re going to have us make a cover. Another important detail is if the top and bottom of the mattress are the same size, or if one is slightly bigger than the other (also known as a “bevel”). If you need a bevel, you’ll need a separate top and bottom pattern, or, you need to communicate how much smaller one is than the other. As you go through the order process on our website, select the “Pattern Shape,” and you’ll enter the general dimensions of the mattress. At the end of the process we’ll tell you how to mail the pattern to us. Custom pattern shape mattresses usually take 2 weeks after we receive your pattern if they don’t include a sewn cover. If they do include a cover, it will likely take 4–6 weeks.
At FoamOrder, we offer ten densities of polyurethane foam mattresses to choose from, from less-expensive mid-grade Econoflex to our highly durable, long-lasting Everflex. Prices start low for our EconoFlex foam (the grade used in the manufacturing of the majority of consumer mattress brands), we recommend this grade of foam for mattresses that don’t get used a lot (guest beds, RVs, etc.). And our long lasting high-resiliency Everflex foam is still a great deal for these high-quality materials. We also offer super-comfortable, organic latex foam mattresses for the best night’s sleep you can imagine. Finally, our memory foam mattress options offer the ability to combine a dreamlike memory foam top layer with a more sturdy and durable polyurethane foam base.
