Outdoor Replacement Cushions
Cushions that are deteriorated and sagging should naturally be replaced. You can make your own outdoor cushions or purchase them from FoamOrder.com. In either case, there are a couple of things to keep in mind as you shop.
When getting replacement cushions for outdoor furniture, we generally recommend an open-cell foam. Some people think they should get a closed-cell foam that resists water intrusion. But if and when water does get into these foams, it’s very hard to get out. Water can also end up trapped between the foam and cover, leading to mold and mildew. Open-cell foam, on the other hand, lets water drain easily so the cushions dry fast.
You’ll also need to consider the foam density. Many manufacturers use 1.2 lb./ft.³ density foam for outdoor cushions replacement, which is prone to compression and “bottoming out.” We use 1.8 lb./ft.³ density foam that offers more support while still being comfortable. You can go denser, especially for seat cushions, but it might compromise the foam’s drainability.
