Our Shredded Organic Latex Foam is made from the same 100% natural Dunlop latex used in our latex foam sheets and mattresses. This high-density latex (~6 lbs/ft³) is brand new material that has never been used before and is processed into shredded pieces to create a breathable, resilient fill.
Because the foam pieces come from different sections of latex foam buns, the shredded material contains a natural mix of firmness levels. This creates a comfortable fill that shifts and conforms easily while maintaining the durability and resilience that natural latex is known for.

Is shredded latex better than polyester fiber fill?
Both materials are commonly used as loose cushion and pillow fill, but they perform quite differently.
| Feature | Shredded Latex | Polyester Fiber Fill |
|---|---|---|
| Durability | Very durable and resilient | Flattens and compresses over time |
| Support | Responsive and supportive | Soft but less supportive |
| Breathability | Naturally breathable foam structure | Less airflow |
| Material | Natural rubber tree sap | Synthetic polyester fibers |
| Longevity | Often lasts many years | May require periodic refilling |
For projects where durability, breathability, and natural materials are important, shredded latex is often preferred. Fiberfill can still be a practical choice for very soft pillows or lightweight decorative cushions.
Will shredded latex expand after opening the bag?
Yes. The latex is vacuum compressed for shipping efficiency. Once the bag is opened, the foam pieces will gradually expand back to their normal volume.
Is shredded latex messy to work with?
Because it is a natural foam material, small flakes can occasionally shed when the bag is opened or when the fill is handled. Opening the bag over a work surface or inside a cover helps keep the material contained.
