Mattress Foam Types

Take time to read the descriptions of our foam, below. These descriptions are presented again on the price quote page, for your convenience. Keep in mind that thinner foam (under 3 inches) feels softer and thicker foam (5 inches plus) feels firmer than the descriptions given.

These descriptions apply to foam used as a mattress for a person weighing about 175 pounds (80 kg). Your weight will affect the foam’s firmness.

EverFlex™ V24

EverFlex™ V24

Medium-Soft

CertiPUR

This durable foam is soft and comfortable but does not provide a great deal of mattress support. It’s a good choice for those who prefer a soft mattress when used above a firmer base. (Density: 2.6 lbs/ft³, ILD: 24.)

EverFlex™ V34

EverFlex™ V34

Firm

CertiPUR

We recommend this very high quality, medium-firm foam for any cushion or mattress. We strongly recommend you buy a mattress cover to protect any foam of this quality from rips and stains. It is a very good foam. Engineered using a high resilience (HR) cell structure. (Density: 2.6 lbs/ft³, ILD: 34.)

EverFlex™ V44

EverFlex™ V44

Firm

CertiPUR

This is one of the highest quality polyurethane foams available. It will give you many years of firm, durable support. It is highly recommended for seat cushions or mattresses. We strongly recommend you buy a custom cover to protect foam of this quality from rips and stains. Engineered using a high resilience (HR) cell structure. (Density: 2.8 lbs/ft³, ILD: 44.)

EverFlex™ V54

EverFlex™ V54

Very Firm

CertiPUR

EverFlex™ V54 is a high quality, very firm grade of foam. It is great for a seat cushion or firm mattress, but too firm for back cushions. If your weight is 200–230 pounds (91–104 kg), this will provide firm mattress support. We strongly recommend you buy a custom cover to protect foam of this quality from rips and stains. Engineered using a high resilience (HR) cell structure. (Density: 2.9 lbs/ft³, ILD: 54.)

EverFlex™ Rebond

EverFlex™ Rebond

Rigid

Rebond is our most durable and firmest foam. In most applications it won’t soften or dip with time. This very firm, high-density foam is perfect for applications that get a lot of use and compression, such as motorcycle seats, gym equipment, and high-use benches. For cushions it should be used with V44 or V54 foam glued on top to mitigate its firmness. For mattresses for very heavy individuals it should be used under 4" of memory foam. Since this foam is so dense it has very little give. (Density: 8 lbs/ft³.)

DuraFlex™ D30

DuraFlex™ D30

Firm

CertiPUR

This is a good quality foam. We recommend it for mattresses, window seats, and seat cushions. (Density: 2.2 lbs/ft³, ILD: 30.)

DuraFlex™ D40

DuraFlex™ D40

Very Firm

CertiPUR

This is a good quality foam. We recommend it for mattresses, window seats, and seat cushions. (Density: 2.2 lbs/ft³, ILD: 40.)

EconoFlex™ C25

EconoFlex™ C25

Medium-Soft

CertiPUR

This foam is an inexpensive grade and good for any application in which you want something a little on the soft side. We recommend it for back cushions on a couch, guest beds, window seats, or for really thick seat cushions. (Density: 1.8 lbs/ft³, ILD: 18.)

EconoFlex™ C33

EconoFlex™ C33

Medium-Firm

CertiPUR

A medium foam. It is an inexpensive grade and good for any application that doesn’t get daily use. We recommend it for cushions on a couch, guest beds, window seats, or for really thick seat cushions. This quality is commonly found in all new furniture. (Density: 1.8 lbs/ft³, ILD: 36.)

EconoFlex™ C55

EconoFlex™ C55

Very Firm

CertiPUR

EconoFlex™ C55 is an inexpensive firm to very firm foam. It is fine for a guest bed, window seat, or firm seat cushion in a sofa that is not used regularly. Regular use will break down this foam and its firmness will feel more “medium” with time. (Density: 1.8 lbs/ft³, ILD: 55.)

Y33

Y33

Medium

CertiPUR

A lightweight foam perfect for applications that will not be compressed very often. This inexpensive foam will soften and may deform from being compression packaged when shipped. It takes 1–2 weeks to fully uncompress after shipping. Not generally recommended for use as a mattress, but is acceptable for occasional use. (Density: 1.2 lbs/ft³, ILD: 36.)
