Care of Your Wood Furniture

Wood is a natural product. Much of wood's attraction and beauty stems from its variance, grain, and texture. New or vintage, each piece of wood is unique. Therefore, no two wood objects will be exactly alike even when made of the same wood, a quality to be appreciated in a world of copying and mass production.

Wood inherently reacts naturally to its surrounding and to passage of time. Characteristics, which can be expected to develop in products made of wood, include drying, expansions and contraction perhaps resulting in warping or cracking. Factors in this process include seasonal and environmental changes, temperature and humidity variations, exposure to sunlight and heat, and aging.

To limit the changing characteristics natural to wood, it is important to assist the wood in retaining moisture. This is especially critical in fall/winter in centrally heated spaces.

Suggestions for Care:

  • Do not place in direct sunlight
  • Do not expose to direct heat
  • Do not soak in water
  • Keep environmentally humidified
  • Wipe clean with a damp soft rag
  • Dry with a damp soft rag
